Opening an Account with DKB AG
Opening a savings account with the German DKB bank.
This offer is exclusively for private individuals for whom it is important to keep their funds in a European bank.
The account can be opened remotely. Opening requires a standard set of documents with an apostille.
German depositors are creatures of habit.
Despite low interest rates, German depositors have hardly changed their investment behaviour since 2009. According to statistics, they set aside more than a third of their income — at practically zero interest — in accounts with German banks: Germans have placed more than 2.5 trillion euros in their current accounts and savings accounts or keep it in cash.
Those who place their assets in a bank as term deposits consider this safe. Savings are protected by the deposit guarantee fund — up to 100 000 euros. If the bank goes bankrupt, the deposited money will not be lost. Those who choose this path nevertheless acknowledge that inflation "eats up" part of these savings.
On the other hand, Germans have invested considerably less in shares or funds — just over 1 trillion euros. Shareholders and investors take on more risk and often have to endure price fluctuations, but they usually achieve higher returns over a longer period.
